What is the difference between resin clay and foam clay?
Resin clay is denser, smoother, and captures finer details with a translucent finish. It shrinks only about 3% when drying, while foam clay shrinks 8–15% and feels lightweight and spongy. For detailed work, resin clay is the professional choice.
What is the difference between resin clay and modeling clay?
Modeling clay dries hard but can be brittle and prone to breaking. Resin clay dries durable and slightly flexible, making it better for thin flower petals, jewelry, charms, and other delicate crafts.
How does resin clay cure, and how long does it take to dry completely?
Resin clay is a self-hardening air-dry clay that requires no baking. It becomes touch-dry in 15–30 minutes, cures in about 24 hours for pieces under 5mm thick, and takes 3–7 days for sections thicker than 1cm.
How can I get a flawless finish?
Small cracks usually appear when the clay hasn’t been kneaded enough or starts to dry out while you’re shaping it. Knead the clay evenly before you start, and shape it within 5 min. If it feels a bit tough, work some Vaseline (or hand cream) into it.
Is this resin clay waterproof after drying?
Resin clay is water-resistant once dry, but it is not 100% waterproof for prolonged submersion. For wearable jewelry, keychains, or outdoor decor, we recommend applying a clear acrylic varnish or UV resin sealant for complete moisture protection.
